Christopher M. Holland, MD, PhD, FAANS is a complex and minimally invasive spinal neurosurgeon at Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associatesn in Charlotte, North Carolina and the Chief of Surgery at Atrium Health Cabarrus. He specializes in degenerative spinal conditions, spinal deformity, primary and metastatic spine tumors, spinal trauma, and artificial disc replacement. Dr. Holland completed his residency in Neurological Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta and a fellowship Complex and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He is board-certified in Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Holland received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Boston College, completed graduate coursework in Computer Science at Harvard University, and then enrolled in the dual degree MD/PhD program at the Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his doctoral dissertation titled, “Context-based Morphometry of Disease Affecting the Cerebral White Matter: Perfusion and its Implications for Brain Parenchymal Damage” in the Center for Neurologic Diseases at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and was awarded an NIH/NINDS predoctoral F30 fellowship award in support of this work.
