Dr. Jason Zook attended Wake Forest University where he graduated magna cum laude, and he continued his studies at Wake Forest Bowman Gray School of Medicine, and currently practices at EmergeOrtho in Morganton, North Carolina. After obtaining his medical degree, he went on to complete his Orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he received extensive training that included experience at five different Level I trauma centers. After residency, he served as staff Orthopedic Surgeon and Department Head of Orthopedics at the US Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy. While there he received the Physician of the Year Award. He then completed a combined Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Spine Fellowship at the world-renowned Leatherman Spine Fellowship in Louisville, Kentucky.
From there, he served as Spine Team Leader and staff Orthopedic Surgeon at Naval Hospital Portsmouth. In 2011-2012 he served a tour of duty in Kandahar, Afghanistan, where he was the Department Head of Orthopedic Surgery at the NATO Role 3 Hospital. While there, he performed over 200 surgeries on victims of blasts, gunshots and a wide variety of other injuries.
