Joseph Yunga Tigre is a 3rd year medical student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Born in Ecuador, he immigrated to the U.S. when he was 5 years old with his family. They settled down in Riverside, New Jersey. He then attended Rutgers University, majoring in Biology. He graduated in 2019 with his BA, becoming the first person in his family to graduate from college. He then worked as implementation consultant for the clinical trial software development company, Medidata Solutions. He then attended the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. For the past year, he has had the opportunity to work in Dr. Burks’ research lab, studying peripheral nerve injury and performing clinical research.
