Patrick Chang is an MD candidate at the Drexel University College of Medicine and a research affiliate with the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Neuroscience Institute. Patrick is a Los Angeles native who describes himself as a loving son, a faithful friend, and a dabbler of the culinary and fine arts. His personal experience of resilience in overcoming unstable housing, familial substance misuse, and close end-of-life relations has driven his passion to improve the standards of patient health outcomes, health advocacy, and high-value care through his work. To all who share his vision to simply be the best physician one can be, he thanks you for your sincerity and looks forward to meeting you.
Patrick's primary research areas with the AHN Neuroscience Institute focus on spine deformity, spine quality, and patient-reported outcomes. He also has a basic science research background working with Drexel's graduate Neurobiology and Anatomy Department investigating therapies for Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. His other research under the Humanities division at Drexel University College of Medicine explores overlooked topics of medical humanities, including neuroethics, the experience of illness, social determinants of health, patient-doctor interactions, and the relationship between art and medicine.
