Mariah Balmaceno-Criss, a rising fourth year student at The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, has a passion for research and innovation. In 2017, Mariah graduated from the University of Maryland where she earned a BS in biology. While an undergraduate, she engaged in cell and molecular biology research in the academic, government, and industrial sectors. Following graduation, she completed a three year research fellowship with the National Cancer Institute, winning a research award in her final year. As a medical student, she has been involved in both basic science and clinical orthopedic research, with a special interest in biomechanics. Mariah is currently taking a research year with the Brown Department of Orthopedics Spine Research and Innovation lab.
