Dr. Ashis Dhar, born in Bangladesh, earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from Dhaka University in 2011. Subsequently, he pursued a master's in public health and went on to complete his Ph.D. studies at Kagoshima University in Japan in 2017. His doctoral research at Kagoshima University delved into the impact of oral injury on Alzheimer's disease progression, specifically examining neural damage. Dr. Dhar was recognized for his exceptional work with the Morita Award from Kagoshima University.
Following his time in Japan, Dr. Dhar took on a postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University's Department of Anesthesiology, where he engaged in neuroscience research. Eager to further his research career, he joined the Bydon lab at Mayo Clinic in 2022 as a research fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Bydon. His primary focus at Mayo Clinic is on the development of regenerative treatments for patients with spinal cord injuries.
