Christina Huang Wright MD MPH is an assistant professor in neurosurgery and spine at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. She completed her medical degree at Penn State University and her internship and residency at University of Southern California and University Hospitals / Case Western in Cleveland. During residency she also completed a MPH at Johns Hopkins with a certificate in Quality, Patient Outcomes, and Safety Research. She completed a complex spine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and from there headed to the Pacific Northwest to join a collaborative joint academic practice that includes both orthopedics and neurosurgery at the OHSU Spine Center.
Academic interests include exploring the psychology behind surgical decision making and shared decision making. She is a recipient of an AO Spine grant to study expectation concordance between surgeons, radiation oncologists and patients with metastatic spine disease. Surgical interests include tumor, metastatic spine disease, deformity, and trauma. She has worked in process improvement within the spine center, with recent achievments including integration of bone health optimization within the Spine Center with her PA team and collaboratively working to establish a spine oncology board with Dr. Andrew Ryu. Future objectives include evidence based standardization of spine optimization pathways and workflow processes to help patients and clinicians navigate a very fragmented healthcare system in Oregon.
She continues to engage in her love for competitive soccer by coaching her 5 year old's Running Raspberries recreational team to occasional victory. In her free time she enjoys paddleboarding, boating, skiing, and hiking with her family which includes two young kids, two rescue pitbulls and her husband, James Wright, also a neurosurgeon at OHSU.
